NOWOŚĆ ? WARSZTATY OTWARTE 4-MATURA ON-LINE

Mamy dla Państwa nową formę warsztatów on-line, skierowanych głównie do maturzystów i mających na celu bliższe zapoznanie się z kulturą krajów anglojęzycznych. Taka jednodniowa pigułka kulturowa w przystępnej cenie (5 zł/40 minut lub 20 zł za 4 warsztaty). Uczniowie otrzymają zestaw pytań i ćwiczeń interaktywnych by się przygotować, a wiedzę skonfrontują z prowadzącym i pozostałymi uczestnikami na spotkaniu.

12:00 – 12:40 The English Language

To celebrate St George?s Day (23rd April) in England, Thomas will collaborate with the students in four sessions, each beginning with an audio-visual-based introduction from the tutor, followed by individual and group research tasks, and a collective discussion at the end so that students can present their findings and ideas. Students will be provided with a list of questions to research before the workshops, as well as a number of interactive quizzes.

9:00 – 9:40 History of England and Great Britain: We?ll investigate, together with Thomas, that key dates or periods that have helped define the  English nation starting with the times before the Roman invasion, the Roman times, and then we will look at the periods when England was rules by English kings and queens. We will also learn about how the British Empire was created and how it has impacted the United Kingdom today.

10:00 – 10:40 Geography of England and Great Britain: We?ll look at the story behind the names of various cities in England, and how the South of England and the North had a different role to play. We will walk along the Hadrian Wall and take a peak beyond the borders of England to see what neighbours they have. Expect to learn more about the rivers, the lakes, the mountains and the sea resorts of England.

11:00 – 11:40 Culture of England and Great Britain: We?ll focus on key figures from the worlds of music, sport, cinema, literature and politics of England and Great Britain and explore the different lifestyles across a variety of cultures within the UK. Finally, we will explore stereotypes such us the one of an English Gentleman or fish&chips, and talk a little about the class system in the UK. A mixed bag.

12:00 – 12:40 The English Language: Thomas will help us establish the origins of the English language and understand the diversity of accents across England and within the UK. This will be a very practical session in which you get to speak with the RP accent like the royal family, like a Northerner, a Glaswegian and a Geordie. It will be fun.
